Laurentian’s Campus Emergency Response Team is a student led initiative available to respond to any medical issue on the Sudbury Campus. Our volunteers, all Laurentian students, are trained at a First Responder level with CPR HCP. We partner with security to assist in any emergency on campus. Our team aims to enhance safety in partnership with all available services at Laurentian currently and also provide students with another way to become involved in the school community. LUCERT can also cover events affiliated with Laurentian, by contacting us at our email. We are also joined with Laurentian’s SafeWalk and aim to ensure everyone’s safety while at the university.

Our team is made up entirely of dedicated volunteer students trained at a First Responded level with CPR HCP.
My name is Jordan Pennington. I am the Coordinator of Laurentian’s Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Laurentian’s SafeWalk service. We are a student led volunteer service that we started in my first year at LU. It began as a SafeWalk with a few friends who wanted to help out around campus and grew from there. SafeWalk is a based around having a friendly face to accompany anyone to any on-campus destination in a safe manner. The addition of CERT began from an interest with help from the SGA-AGE, Laurentian’s Security Department, and Residence and is now another service based on students helping students. Our mandate is to provide anyone a non-judgemental, confidential medical response for any injury or illness. Our service runs because of all the hard work of our dedicated members, it would be nothing without them. Despite being a great aspect of Laurentian, its a great way for to meet new friends and get involved.
