Location: Laurentian University Students’ General Association

Salary: $13/hr up to 10-15 hours a week

Full/Part Time: Part-time

Reports to: Director of Communications

The SGA is looking for a Translator. The translators’ duties are to interpret written materials into French documents and to ensure meaning and context is maintained in the language of translation.

Responsibilities

  • Reads through materials in the English language, determines the understanding of the meaning and context of that material and converting it to the French language making sure to preserve the original meaning
  • Translates online and video media by providing subtitles
  • Consults with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specialized concepts and translate them appropriately
  • Refers to online translation tools for additional assistance with translation
  • Follows up to ensure satisfaction and understanding of the materials being translated
  • Translates a variety of documents

Requirements

  • Fluency in both the English and French language
  • Written and verbal communication in both French and English
  • Understanding of grammar
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Microsoft office suite proficiency
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure
