Jane Goodall Restoration Wetland

22 April 2024

The SGA team recently partook in a hike to the lookout over the Laurentian Conservation Area for Earth Day. We took this time to celebrate the dedication of the Restoration Wetland to Jane Goodall for her 90th birthday.

We hope that more students will head out to enjoy this fantastic spot and see the amazing view for themselves!

12 April 2024

The SGA/AGÉ is pleased to announce Dr. William Newbigging as one of the 2024 recipients of the OUSA Award for Teaching Excellence. This award is designed to recognize educators who go above and beyond, creating positive learning experiences for their students.

Dr. Newbigging is a professor in the department of History at Laurentian University where he has taught courses for over 30 years. His students came out in droves to speak highly of their professor. They collectively agree that he is a “one-of-a-kind” educator.

The SGA/AGÉ is excited to partner with OUSA to bestow this award on Dr. Newbigging. Not only does this award showcase the incredible quality of faculty at Laurentian University but it also demonstrates the focus of our educators on creating meaningful and positive student experiences. Educators like Dr. Newbigging help our students not only to succeed but also to enjoy their academic journey. We wish to thank Dr. Newbigging for his continued efforts to make the learning experience positive for our students and congratulate him on his very well-deserved win.

New Food Service in the
Student Centre

1 April 2024

The SGA is excited to announce that a new food service has recently opened in the Student Centre. Zena Cafe will be open Monday to Friday 9 am to 6pm during the school year. Students can expect an array of drink and snacks options served with a smile from the friendly owner Mo.

Given that food services on campus have dwindled over the years due to Covid and the CCAA process the SGA is excited to be bringing this new option to students.
